TRANS MAN (FTM), who speaks for HIMSELF thank you

I will never buy a toothbrush again. No plastic. Cheap as hell. Lasts a good amount of time. Lots of tooth-healthy components inside. You don’t even need anything to use it, just your teeth to peel the bark and saliva and chewing to make the bristles flexible.

Extremely ADHD-friendly. If you have trouble brushing your teeth normally, just keep this in your pocket or by your desk or wherever. It is a low-barrier, accessible tool to teeth cleaning.

They should really give this to people starting from childhood and just skip all the stupid toothbrush crap. This one-dollar ($1) stick they chopped off a tree has already done more for me than a dentist-recommended $100 motorized rechargeable head-swapping piece of crap and a bunch of useless sugar-filled mouthwash given to me on prescription.

If I had these growing up, I wouldn’t have fillings today.

The only thing I’d add to this for an oral hygiene routine is a tongue-scraper since this isn’t really used for the tongue. Both are cheap, durable, and simple.

If you hate overcomplicated corporate bs and getting looped into systems you never agreed to, this will likely be a very welcome addition to your life.

And be wary of the fact that western markets are catching onto this product, and making weird expensive derivative products. I’ve already seen a $35 dollar toothbrush handle with “recharge packs” of tiny chunks of miswak sticks you load individually into it. It’s bullcrap. Take the leap and go straight for the chewing stick. You will not miss anything you left behind.

Good for people who hate the plastic industry: Yes! It’s better than one-use brushes preloaded with toothpaste. It’s better than average toothbrushes with plastic handles. It’s better than electric and head-swapping brushes. It’s better than brushes with natural handles (eg wood), since those still have nylon (plastic) bristles. This is literally just a stick. The only plastic is the packaging.

Good for penny-savers: Yes! The cost/benefit ratio is very good and the initial cost is extremely low. I bought 10 and after giving a bunch away to friends and family, I still have plenty.

Good for the health-conscious: Yes! It’s shown to work as good as or better than standard western tooth hygiene routines, due to many naturally-occurring substances in the tree which promote tooth health, such as fluoride and calcium and anti-bacterial components, as well as the gentle abrasive action of the bristles, which clean teeth and promotes good gum health as well. I was even able to use mine to do some at-home de-scaling which I could not do with a modern toothbrush, although I don’t think this is something a dentist would recommend trying. Also, the tooth-promoting compounds mix with your saliva, so you can swish your own saliva around your teeth (and/or use your tongue) without needing mouthwash.

For those worried about flouride: Yes, you can eat flouride. Yes, it’s technically “toxic”, but the “toxicity” here means that if you guzzle down an entire tube of toothpaste, you will get a tummyache. It’s not food. That’s all it means. There is not enough flouride in the miswak to cause any problems. Flouride is a mineral that teeth use to repair themselves, like calcium. Remember, regular table salt is more dangerous than flouride, and you can freely eat that too. Your body will let you know if it’s had enough. This will not happen when using chewing sticks for tooth health.

No “the government” (which agency anyway? also miswak is not from the USA.) does not use flouride to control people. You are already controlled just fine using social media sites, exploitative marketing design, and unethical journalism. Being ungovernable does not involve collecting cavities. On the contrary, the better your health is, the more powerful you are against exploitation.

So yes, the flouride content naturally occurring in miswak is both fine, and also actually really beneficial and interesting. I never thought of a tree as being a mineral source before, but it makes sense.

Dispose of your final disposable toothbrush once and for all. It was as easy as chewing on a stick this whole time!

I like the way my teeth feel after using. It did take some getting use to using., but I finally figured out what worked for me. Will definitely purchase again.

The taste is really odd at first, but once it dries out it will be OK. Size is the same as a regular toothbrush and it is very durable. If you like soft toothbrushes, this is not for you it can be very rough.

I absolutely love them. The flavor at the first is a bit strong, but it rinses off quickly. I will never go back to plastic toothbrushes. These are fantastic!

I can literally count on one hand how many reviews I have written, and this my first negative review. Unfortunately, my experience with this product was SO bad, that I had to write a review.

Bottom Line: These miswak sticks smell and taste HORRIBLE. The scent is unique unto itself and is very hard to describe. Some folks have described it as a horseradish type scent…who the heck is putting horseradish on their toothbrush??

Anyway, the scent slaps you in the face as soon as you open the packaging. Removing the stick from the packaging leaves an oily, flimsy residue on your hands. Guess what…your hands now smell!

Shave the outer bark off the stick…there’s stinky oil on my knife…start chewing…it tastes exactly like it smells…I let my wife try her own and she agreed with me. Needless to say, these miswak sticks were dropped directly into the trash.

Just a little background: I learned about Salvadora persicca (common name: miswak) in my Medical Botany class while earning my Bio degree at university. The professor actually brought some miswak in for us to examine when we were learning about historical uses of plants for oral hygiene. The specimen he brought was from a local health store and smelled like it was soaked in mint essential oil or something. THAT is what I was expecting with this product. In all fairness, I probably should have looked at more reviews before dropping my $10 on these, but hey, I certainly learned something from all this: stick with a local health store for items like this, where the customer can see and SMELL the product first. Plus, it will go toward supporting a local business!

Buyers beware: This product’s gross ¯_(ツ)_/¯

This is my first time trying Miswak so I don’t have much to compare to but overall it’s a good product. Shipping was as estimated(about 2 weeks) but I wasn’t expecting the packaging. The bag it was shipped in is the only thing holding all of the sticks together so definitely don’t rip the bag open any ole way! The individual packing also is not resealable and there are no direction or advised storage tips so I wish the company would have added that. I do not like the taste of the outside of the stick so I used my fingernails to scrape off the outside of the stick to get to the bristle-links inside and chewed it a bit to soften. The taste still is not the best but I can definitely tell the difference in my teeth after the FIRST use! My teeth felt super clean! Now are they any whiter, I don’t think so but this is week one so that part is still up for debate. I have to use a mouth was directly after using because the bristle-like pieces of the stick break off a little while using. Then I brush with regular fluoride free toothpaste because as I said the taste/smell is not appealing at all. Overall it Is a great natural product for teeth cleaning!

I saw something about this on a show and I was like you know what I’m going to give it a try. It does taste weird, I would describe the flavor to a dijon mustard. So if you really hate mustard or that kind of flavor then this is going to be a no go for you because the flavor is pretty prominent and hard to ignore. I don’t mind the flavor so I went to town in my mouth.

I am surprised with how clean and smooth my teeth feel after and for how long after. Whatever natural waxes it puts on your teeth I can feel the difference after meals and I feel it protects your teeth longer than toothpaste. I am very impressed with it and floored that I have never heard of this before and now I don’t think I’m going to go back. It’s really freaking cool what the earth provides us.

I have been recommending it to people I know because I am really impressed with it. If you are on the fence and you are okay with the dijon mustard taste do not hesitate and go for it .

This changed my life. I’m autistic and I’ve always hated brushing my teeth due to sensory issues. This Miswak stick is a total game changer for me. My dentist complimented me and said I had the best oral hygiene she’d seen all week! Asked me what changed from my usual “fair but needs improvement” and I went on and on about how much I love Miswak

I saw the miswak sticks on tik tok & decided to buy them on Amazon. Product was exactly as described. 10 individually wrapped sticks moist on the inside. Haven’t exactly figured them all put but they definitely make your teeth feel very clean. They taste a little weird but not bad.

I tried to wait a whole week before leaving a review but I’m honestly how shocked my oral health has improved in just 5 days that I had to leave one. I seriously may never use a regular toothbrush again. I found out about this product after a YouTube rabbit hole binge on herbalism and holistic care. I have always had issues with my teeth in the past, and have spent thousands of dollars trying to fix it. Our American diet is mostly to blame, and I thought that I just had weak teeth and that I could only do the best I could with what I’ve got. I have done several holistic approaches to remedy my teeth, all of which have worked to varying degrees of success so I figured it was worth a try after seeing videos of rural people enjoying strong, white teeth with no modern toothbrush. Honestly, I am amazed by the results that I have gotten in just a few days. 1. My teeth feel the cleanest they’ve ever been. Better than an electric toothbrush.

    2. I had stains on my teeth that weren’t horrible but very noticeable to me. To the point, I was starting to feel self-conscious about it. The stains and plaque have drastically improved. My teeth are whiter and I’m shocked but mostly delighted bc I have crowns in the front of my mouth and was told by a dentist that I could not do a traditional whitening treatment. It’s also not advised to use whitening toothpaste on them bc they scratch the tooth and actually discolor them quicker…so I had no idea what to do. This product is slowly but noticeably whitening my teeth.

    3. I regularly use a tongue scrapper. Once in the morning and at night after I brush. While I am still doing this, I’ve noticed that the build-up on my tongue is not that gross, thick deposit that has been there. My tongue has almost nothing on it and what is there is loose and mostly clear. Lastly, my morning breath is much better.

Overall I am very pleased with the product. My only slight con is that it can be a little challenging to get the back of my teeth, but it’s not impossible. Just takes practice. If you are on the fence I would say get it and try it out. Some people remarked on the taste, which almost stopped me from buying it, but as an herbalist and someone who has taken bitter herbs/tonics, my palette is much different from most so I purchased it to see. I can understand how some might find it unpleasant, but honestly, the taste is very subtle and not that bad. I thought it would be far worse the way ppl were describing it. If you struggle with oral health this is definitely the product to get you back on track. Thank you for offering it!!
